Diagnostic Pathology

 This department handles the pathological diagnosis of organs, tissues, or cells submitted by all departments.

1. Details

 i. Cytological diagnosis: The quality of cells contained in sputum, urine, puncture fluid, etc., is judged.

 ii. Biopsy histological diagnosis: A portion of body tissue is sampled for diagnosis.

 iii. Pathological diagnosis of surgical materials: We perform the definitive diagnosis of lesions excised by surgery and evaluate their progress.

 iv. Intraoperative rapid pathological diagnosis: The tissue excised during surgery is rapidly diagnosed, and the surgical approach is determined based on the result.

 v. Anatomic pathology: The cause of death is investigated by dissecting the deceased person.

 vi. Pathology clinic: Explained in the next section.


2. Pathology Clinic

At the pathology clinic, a pathologist will explain the pathological diagnosis to the patient while showing the pathological specimen and will answer any questions. This is intended for patients who have been informed by the attending physician regarding with the disease currently being treated, and who need more detailed information on the pathological findings or want to actually see their own cells/tissues.


Patients who do not qualify for a consult:

 ・Those who want to express their dissatisfaction with their primary physician, and those who want to discuss the treatment details

 ・Those who want to discuss medical malpractice and disputed trials

 ・Those without an appointment

 ・Those seeking an explanation of anatomic pathology


Consultation procedure

 Patients receiving medical care at this hospital:

 ・Inform your primary physician that you wish to visit the pathological diagnosis department.

 ・This visit will be considered a regular medical treatment covered by insurance.

 Patients receiving medical care at another hospital:

This department has adopted a referral reservation system. Please make an appointment for a new outpatient at least 2 weeks before in advance through the Community Health Care Center (TEL: 023-628-5160).

 ・This is an out-of-pocket medical treatment.

  Fee: 21,600 yen

 ・Please send the following materials to the pathological diagnosis department at least 1 week before the appointment date.

  1.Letter of referral from the primary physician or attending physician

   (include clinical information, reports of other examinations (MRI, endoscopy, etc.), surgery records, etc.)

Pathological diagnosis or cytology report and its preparation

※ Please use a special container and wrap it sufficiently to avoid risk of damage.

※ If a family member will be consulted on the patient's behalf, please prepare a written consent form signed by the patient.
